House Renovation, Ballyconneely, Co. Galway

Client: Private
Status: Completed 2016
Value: Private

Project Description:

The design was to provide 3 distinctive buildings on site (as was the case originally) but to place them together in a ‘’clachan’’ style, a gathering of buildings as it were.

The existing dwelling was restored and provides sleeping accommodation. The two new buildings provide in one the open plan family accommodation and in the other the additional sleeping accommodation required to meet the brief.

Two of the buildings front the roadside elevation and provide privacy to the south elevation and the sea views beyond, these are clad in local stone. The third building, a strong rural form like a typical shed\outbuilding is clad in zinc. All three buildings maintain their distinctive individual character and are connected together by a glass link providing wonderful views to the sea between the buildings.
