Various Pubs and Restaurants

An early commercial niche was established in the hospitality sector with the completion of Ashtons in 1977, being the first new pub to incorporate hard flooring throughout and drink shelves as an extension of the bar counter to appeal to the Irish social desire to be close to the bar! McCormacks in Mountown in 1985 consolidated this in a modern interpretation of a Victorian Dublin pub complete with conservatory. In between, The Coach House took its theme from Frank Lloyd Wright, as did The Goat and in 1987 Hogans in Dalkey was among the first café bars in Dublin. Other pub/dining concepts included The Queens in Dalkey in 1989, and Bennigans in 1990 together with The Merrion Inn and The Oval in the early 90's.
