The Bank Pub, College Green, Dublin 2
Formerly an AIB branch bank, this beautiful 4 storey over basement sandstone building complete with banking hall was built in 1893-1895 and is a protected structure. Consequently its change of use and restoration had to be sensitively handled with the banking hall forming the main bar/restaurant area and the kitchen, stores, toilets and a fire escape located in the basement. Mirrors were incorporated at high level to accentuate the views of the fine moulded and vaulted ceilings and stained glass roof lights while a gallery with turned brass ballustrading was added to increase the public space.
